Building Questions: Installations by Architects

Traveling Exhibition, 2009 - 2011

Following the publication of Installations by Architects (Princeton Architectural Press, 2009), a traveling exhibition was developed, Building Questions: Installations by Architects, to bring the subject to a wider audience. In addition to featuring many projects discussed in the book, the show included a video of time-based work. These videos enriched viewers’ understanding of these ephemeral works’ contexts and offered an approximation of an embodied experience.

Between 2009 and 2011, the show traveled to 11 venues in North America and Europe. Building Questions: Installations by Architects aimed to increase knowledge of installations and the ways they have expanded architecture pedagogy and the discipline itself, as well as and how they have been used to sharpen understanding and dialogue about the built environment.
